Mr. Hammond’s practice blends architecture and sculpture to honor the spirit of place. Hammond is a LEED-accredited architect who has been a pioneer in the passive solar building and planning movement since the 1970’s. As founder of Living Systems, he helped author the nation’s first energy-conserving city building code. He also designed and built California’s first modern straw bale structure. Before co-founding Indigo, Hammond taught Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the Kyushu Institute of Design in Japan and Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois.
With a professional design and planning background and over thirty years of experience in municipal, educational and commercial facilities, Mr. Playle has managed large master plan projects and has been an innovator in the development of the design-build process in both the public and private sectors. His special abilities in the facilitation of large user groups and committees are useful tools in reaching design consensus. Mr. Playle believes that the success of a project hinges on a well-managed design and construction process.
Prescott is focused on providing INDIGO’s clients with design solutions that address their needs. He has experience working with large and small organizations. He monitors the design process from conception through construction to ensure consistency of design idea. He works independently and teams with colleagues and consultants to deliver projects with flexible, thoughtful and innovative solutions in a very high-energy and fast paced environment. A registered architect with a Master’s degree from the University of Oregon, Mr. Nichols has worked with Indigo for over 15 years. He is proficient in office analysis, scheduling, and page layout software in addition to SpecLink-E technical database and ArchiCAD BIM 3D modeling and promotes a fully realized 3D modeling approach to design development. He drafted LEED performance requirements for a design-build police headquarters, resulting in an award-winning LEED-certified facility for the client. Mr. Nichols has also developed a three part technical specification for a straw bale insulation and finish system (SIFS) - the first of its kind.
Candace holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from California State University, San Luis Obispo. She is a LEED accredited registered architect. Working in the field for over 18 years, she has designed a wide range of projects including schools, Sikh temples, animal shelters and public safety facilities. As well as being skilled and passionate about design, she is also expert in the technical aspects of running a successful project through to completion. She strives to create environments that inspire, innovate, and have a positive effect on people and the environment.
Omar holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque and is a registered Architect in Mexico. Mr. Armendáriz has worked in several projects ranging from housing to commercial buildings as well as construction administration in Mexico and recently in the United States. He is passionate about designing energy efficient buildings and environments.
Ms. Soriano holds a bachelor's degree for Architecture from the New School of Architecture. She is highly motivated and adept in industry-related software and knowledgeable in administrative duties and construction document detailing, process, and generation. Although with her design philosophy still crystalizing, Ms. Soriano firmly believes that Architecture is the escence of every art, in every sense of the word.
Arlo has been Indigo’s IT Manager since 1999. He custom-builds the firm’s computers and offers networking and software support. Having 15 years of experience in graphic design, he also assists with marketing. Extensive knowledge of various construction methods allowed him the opportunity to help with the renovation of the firm’s new office. He is currently serving multiple roles at the office and apprenticing to become an architect.
Sayako is a native of Japan and her work focuses on the imagery and life of the subconscious mind. She has completed numerous public art projects in conjunction with Indigo, including mosaics murals and sculptures. Sayako also collaborates with Indigo on providing color schemes for projects.
Jimmy is a good natured and athletic Queensland Heeler. He joined the Indigo team in 2013. His strengths are herding, cuddling, and making us laugh.
