| A net zero energy facility generally refers to a building that is able to offset all of its energy use by also generating the same amount of energy. Metrics based on site energy, source energy, costs and energy emissions are some of the most common methods used to arrive at net zero. Striving for net zero streamlines with meeting the Architecture 2030 Challenge that all new buildings and major renovations use no fossil fuel GHG-emitting energy to operate (i.e. carbon neutral) by the year 2030. Getting to net zero is more easily obtainable if the required amount of energy generation for offsetting consumption is minimized. Indigo’s bioregional design philosophy and methodology is the most effective way to reduce energy loads by working with the intricacies of climate, topography and culture that is unique to every project. |
