Our 8 step process for providing local governments with a climate action plan:
- Research existing sustainability & GHG related measures & policies.
- Inventory current greenhouse gas emissions resulting from activities within a defined geographic area. Using latest software, inventory sources, and data collection processes, like:
- Using same calculation tools, forecast business-as-usual greenhouse gas emissions.
- Establish greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. Levels, based on substantial evidence, below which the contribution to greenhouse gas emissions from activities covered by the plan would not be cumulatively considerable;
- Analyze local climactic, ecological, and cultural conditions that will affect local best approach to GHG reductions.
- Propose measures, policies, and ordinances tailored to local conditions to achieve specific targets. Specify measures or a group of measures, including performance standards, that substantial evidence demonstrates, if implemented on a project-by-project basis, would collectively achieve the specified emissions level:
- Transportation and Land Use Policies and Impact Fee Adjustments
- Energy Efficiency Measures.
- Renewable Energy Policies.
- Solid Waste Management Measures.
- Green Building: Combining Measures to Achieve Additional Reductions
- Establish mechanisms to monitor the plan’s progress toward achieving the level and to require amendment if the plan is not achieving specified levels.
- Adoption in a public process following environmental review.
